Critiques

 

Emailed manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word as a single email attachment.  If submitting a synopsis and/or query letter, please include as separate attachments.

 

If your material is time sensitive, please contact Valerie before submitting to confirm your deadline.

 

If you prefer to mail your manuscript and/or receive the critique by mail please contact Valerie.

 

Please be sure to specify which romance publisher, series or imprint you are targeting for the manuscript.

 

 

About the Author

 

It is very useful when critiquing your manuscript to know some of the following about you as a writer, your career so far and the manuscript you are submitting:

• how long you’ve been writing
• if you are a published romance writer or contest winner
• past rejections or comments from editors
• feedback from contests or other critiques
• if the manuscript to be critiqued has been seen by an in-house editor
• if the manuscript is in a final or early draft

This background information can be included in the text of the email sent with the manuscript. It doesn’t need to be fancy or formal!

 

 

Telephone Consultations

 

Consultations not connected to a critique work most effectively if writers submit their topics or questions to Valerie prior to the consultation.
